During the last quarter of the year, most people are ramping up their efforts to meet goals – like getting a new job or starting a side gig – before the year ends.
It’s common to use this time to fill the space between where you are and where you want to be. And that’s not a bad thing; working on your career, money, or personal growth goals now can help set you up for success in the new year.
However, creating a long list of goals can be counterproductive. You may find it more beneficial to slow down this quarter. Maybe you’d prefer sticking with your current job rather than searching for a new opportunity. Or, perhaps you just want to quietly close out the year without taking on anything new.
Whatever the case, I hope you can tune out the noise around goal-setting for Q4. We live in a society fueled by ‘more’. More money, more commitments, more stuff. But ‘more’ isn’t always better. It’s time to revisit how we can balance our desire for ‘more’ with rest and reflection.
2024 has been quite the year for many people, marked by economic, personal, and career-related stress. It is not only okay for you to slow down this quarter, but it’s necessary. Take care of your mind and your body – goals can wait.
